The Artsy Therapist
About Me
I’m Anaya, a creative, visionary, storyteller, and therapist who believes deeply in the healing power of expression. At the core of my work is a simple hope: that every person who walks into my space feels safe enough to show up exactly as they are.
Creativity has always been part of how I move through the world, and it naturally became part of how I support others. I love the way art, play, imagination, and storytelling open doors that words alone sometimes can’t. My role is to sit beside you — gently, curiously, and without judgment — as you explore what’s been heavy, confusing, or tender.
I’m someone who notices the small things: the way a child’s shoulders relax when they feel safe, the spark in a teen’s eyes when they find the words for something that’s been sitting heavy, the soft bravery it takes to show up and try again. Those moments matter to me. They’re why I do this work.
The Artsy Therapist Co is my way of offering a space that feels warm, steady, and creatively alive. It's a space where you don’t have to perform or pretend — you can simply arrive as yourself; it's a space built with intention, softness, and care. Here, feelings are welcomed, identities are honored, and growth can unfold at its own pace. I’m grateful to do this work, and I’m honored to walk alongside the people who trust me with their stories.

Education & Training
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC Charlotte, where I focused on child and adolescent development, trauma‑informed care, and creative therapeutic approaches. Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, building a strong foundation in emotional wellness and identity development.
I’ve continued expanding my skills through training in play therapy, expressive arts, narrative practices, trauma interventions, and culturally responsive care. These experiences strengthened my commitment to honoring every person’s lived story.
Experience

I’ve worked across counseling, education, behavioral health, and creative arts spaces, supporting diverse populations in schools, community programs, outpatient therapy settings, and family‑focused environments.
My background as a mentor, coach, educator, artist, and advocate shapes the way I show up in the therapy room — with steadiness, curiosity, and a deep respect for each client’s lived experience.
My Values as a Therapist
I value warmth, authenticity, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration. I believe therapy should feel safe, human, and grounded in respect. Having a heart of service means showing up for you, empowering you, and ensuring you have the tools to make meaningful change.
My work is guided by the belief that every young person deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered — not just in the therapy room, but in their everyday life.
